The point of the cheaper one is getting your balance on your bike right. And they don't have the sprinting floats. You can get regular stationary rollers, which just give resistance on your rear tire. And get the Cheap rollers for your balance.

I mean, yeah, there are injuries, but if you join a good, safety-conscious league that teaches you how to skate safely, fall correctly, etc., you should be OK. If it doesn't you can tuck a thin aluminum or plastic sheet into the fender lip, and press it outwards, forcing the inner well up and out for better clearance. Drill through the aluminum sheet and attach it to the inner well with short sheetmetal screws to hold it in place.
Alternatively, I have know guys who simply cut out the inner well.

If you are getting the same result on both sides I would suspect the fender has something there that is used to mount or stiffen it. If it is at the end hopefully it won't reach the tire.
