This didn't really catch my ear... at all. They just don't seem to be as dynamic as pre-CWA, at least to me. Decent song, but just not for me. I have the albums El cielo, catch without arms, and live at the Fillmore. I personnally prefer El cielo. For me this is their greatest album. But catch without arms is good, too. It is just more commercialy orientated than El cielo. I've bought the pariah today, and I LOVE information. This song is SO GREAT!

But now...I've listened to The Pariah less than 10 times since I got it last summer. It's an AMAZING album, but I'm just not into them right now...it's weird...I don't feel that "connection" to it yet.
I think I grew bored waiting...and waiting for it. That was a LONG fucking wait.

You have to be stupid to believe that it was not an inside job. If it wasnt an inside job, than y did the FBI confiscate the tapes??? Why did they hide the truth from the public. Did you know that the Pentagon has more cameras than any other building in the US?? That's very nice ... By: IAMRMC. on 10 Mar 10, 21:46:16 That's very nice and all, but it doesn't change the fact that you've completely messed up your research by basing it on cherry-picked specifics from a couple of witness testimonies alone. Details that are obviously wrong, as the superior physical evidence plus the greater number of crash witnesses, plus the fact that not one of either witness group have seen a fly-over, contradict the conclusions that you've decided to pull out of your hat by misusing the former group's testimony.
Good job...
Not really. You ... By: godzilla1077. on 10 Mar 10, 21:41:13 Not really. You have to be stupid to believe the inside job theory.
You can say ... By: MercBezerk. on 10 Mar 10, 19:31:07 You can say whatever you want, you can rehash old media accounts, you can STILL not talk to witnesses first hand about which side of the gas station they saw the plane on or verify/confirm what they saw or said. None of it changes where the witnesses all saw the plane and the implications of that. Remember, you are anonymous and posting words from the internet, I am a real person who has spoken with real witnesses on camera, on location detailing where they saw the plane fly. U can't change that
After the way I've ... By: IAMRMC. on 10 Mar 10, 14:13:19 After the way I've seen you eliminate crash witnesses ("too far away", "mentioned a small detail that's not true", "he said he saw the plane crash at 2 o'clock, so let's place him at half past 12 where a tree obstructs his view and I don't understand this whole navigational clock system thing") I think it's safe to say you're forcing your hypothesis and therefore can't be trusted as an investigator.
Cherry-picked, ... By: IAMRMC. on 10 Mar 10, 14:07:37 Cherry-picked, because you deliberately throw the part of the testimony away where people comment on the crash
Contradictory, because they all saw the plane at different positions in the sky. Turcois says he saw the plane go over the canopy, while Lagasse, who stood where he was standing, saw it go all the way over the north side of the bend in Columbia Pike
Anomalous, because neither of the witnesses, nor any of the crash witnesses for that matter, say they saw Flight 77 go over the Pentagon.

This movie shows the main elements of a winning entry at the "Wizards of Science 2009" scientific experiment contest. The entry demonstrates how computers communicate with each other by setting up a network in which a model train transfers a picture's pixels from one computer to the other. More details are available at www.spinellis.gr
[3/3] Another ... By: ralienpp. on 27 Mar 09, 16:11:50 [3/3] Another similar example is when you have two light switches for the same bulb; one switch is downstairs, the other one - upstairs. Setting switch#1 to ON changes switch#2 to OFF, and vice-versa.
So, what is needed is a hardware equivalent of XOR.
Last, but not least, it is time to sketch an RFC called "IP over train" :-)
[2/3]The first ... By: ralienpp. on 27 Mar 09, 16:10:13 [2/3]The first turnpike is installed at the beginning of the fork; the second one is where the paths are merged (this part between the form and the merging point is the critical section). If one train is approaching the fork while the other one is in the critical section - it will have to wait until the other train leaves the critical section.
[1/3] You need to ... By: ralienpp. on 27 Mar 09, 16:09:33 [1/3] You need to use some real-world objects that express the idea of a mutex or a critical section; in this case the two trains are the two threads that want to use the same critical resource.
So far my idea is to use two turnpikes that are connected to each other, when one is ON, the other is OFF, and vice-versa.
I'm effectively ... By: dspinellis. on 20 Feb 09, 06:23:47 I'm effectively doing this, (although I didn't think it in this way), because the two sensors are wired in parallel. However the sensors I could find have a working range of a couple of mm at most, so setting one sensor up in a way that would allow the train's protrusion to pass from the blue pylon and reflect on the sensor might be difficult. Perhaps it can be done by separating the IR transmitter and receiver.
This is brilliant!
... By: notupopper. on 19 Feb 09, 19:51:29 This is brilliant!
One note: You only need one sensor on the receiver! Instead of transmitting 010 you'd transmit an extra "1" before each bit: 101110.
The first bit would be a framing bit (a "start" bit) like in RS232 communications. That starts the timer. (You have a start bit now, but are hiding it under the train!) You don't have to halve the speed to do this. You could add an arm on the front of the train, fixed in the "1" position, slightly higher than the blue pylon so it won't hit.
Very clever. This ... By: steelystan. on 19 Feb 09, 17:24:30 Very clever. This is a great way to get young minds attuned to computer engineering.
You cannot ... By: dspinellis. on 19 Feb 09, 16:04:58 You cannot guarantee that the two trains will have the same speed. Over the course of the contest the train moved sluggishly, until I lubricated the axles of the carriage with some olive-oil from another contestant who was demonstrating the dispersion of molecules in liquids. (You can actually see the difference in the movie. The brightly lit scenes are before lubricating the axles.) Therefore, rather than a simple delay, you would need a mechanism to synchronize the trains .
If you were to use ... By: whatsagoodsn. on 19 Feb 09, 15:59:18 If you were to use two trains, you would need to build some sort of delay into the inner path
Consider for a second a large checkerboard pattern (alternating red and black). If we are using two trains, one will always take the inner path, one will always take the outer path. However, because the inner path is shorter than the smaller path, eventually the two trains could collide or the inner train could pass the outer one. Using two (or more) trains is a great idea if you can solve that problem
Very clever idea! ... By: dspinellis. on 19 Feb 09, 15:01:51 Very clever idea! It had not occurred to me. It's interesting how cooperating minds can improve a concept. My original design revolved on the idea of an actuator pushing bits on the train. A friend suggested using a junction.

I think it's only a correlation between brain size and intelligence. Arthropods for example can have very elaborate behaviors. And then the sperm whale should be a hundred times smarter than us.
Really evolutionary theory says nothing about brain size . You seem to think that evolution is "teleological" and that things become better and better when really evolution is about adaptations to maximize reproductive success in a given ecological niche.

All the evidence suggests that humans had a more effective social structure and also had more advanced technologies. Either way, that wasn't the only thing that made them go extinct.
The Neanderthals needed much more energy than us, which means that they would have had a hard time adjusting to climate changes.
And even if Neanderthals had laser weapons and tanks, it wouldn't contradict the theory of evolution the slightest bit.

As anthropologist claim that the first bipedal Lucy is found in Africa, they also found another species which lived only 30000 years ago Not in Africa but in Europe. They named it Neanderthal. I assume you know that the average human brain capacity is 1300 cm3 but Neanderthals had a brain capacity of 1750 cm3. This contradicts the evolution theory and biologists cannot give a rational reason.

What about them?
Even if you meant ' ... By: XGralgrathor. on 10 Mar 10, 08:20:55 Even if you meant 'evolved':
- Flavobacterium K172 evolved to consume nylon since the 1930s.
- Culex molestus evolved in the London underground system since the 1900s.
- Podarcis sicula on Pod Mrcaru, while not (yet) classified as a new species, evolved new organs to adapt to a new environment since the 1970s.
- 1000s of new strains of viruses and bacteriae evolve every year. Biologists usually don't even bother naming them, unless they are of particular interest for some reason.
« did you say that ... By: XGralgrathor. on 10 Mar 10, 08:08:01 « did you say that facts are made into theories? »
Theories are based on facts. Theories are explanations for facts. Theories are either supported by facts - in which case they remain theories, or contradicted by facts - in which case they're no longer theories. Science consumes facts and produces theories.

What are you saying, you want me to keep it at GRADE school level for you?
As to your banal question: sometimes brain capacity increases over generations, as in the case of humans obviously. It doesn't always happen - crocodiles and sharks have had the same level of intelligence for hundreds of millions of years.
There ARE losers BTW.

Lol don't teach the biology that you learned in high school. I can talk to you in their scientific terms if you want but lets just keep it simple. Let me ask you a question. Do you think that according to evolution theory, as the capacity of brain gets bigger the more intelligent the species get? After all we humans have the biggest brain size and are intelligent.
Please don't use a foul language; we are only having a conversation. There are no winners or losers.

By: kuztom65. on 07 Mar 10, 02:04:07 Creanderthals think we should be able to see evolution happening immediately before our eyes, as they don't understand the concept of millions of years. You've got it. Species of tetrapods take millions of years to appear which is why we don't see new ones just popping up today. They take long times because ecological niches are full(and currently shrinking), their populations are small and their generation times are long. All of those are the parameters of how fast evolution happens

You obviously know nothing about basic evolution, otherwise you wouldn't be speaking such ignorant shit. Viruses develop resistance to medicines -- the weak ones die out and the resistant ones thrive -- that's a form of evolution called Survival of the fittest. Most people know that already.
Going to the gym is not an evolutionary process.

New viruses do come along but it doesn't mean they evolve. That's no big deal. I think so too that if species are introduced to a new environment, some physical adaptation do occur. Just like humans who work out in the gym build muscles, stronger grip, and other physical changes, that doesn't mean they've become a new species. And claiming we evolved from monkeys, I highly doubt it.
RainNight says Well ... By: kuztom65. on 06 Mar 10, 06:47:05 RainNight says Well maybe those bacterias and viruses were already there and are recently discovered. '
We were talking about EVOLUTION not discoveries. Pay attention. I thought everyone knew that viruses evolve - - that's why new flu medicines have to be developed every year. How old are you, seven?

Well maybe those bacterias and viruses were already there and are recently discovered. And what birds and reptiles have been documented to evolve name some of them? I have noticed that evolutionist always use "time" as their defense and get-away. For example, when did pigeons evolve? "millions of years ago." When did lions evolve? "millions of years ago." How did the new world monkeys came to America? "They rafted." Lol. Anthropologist actually believe this.

do you mean that no new species has evolved in 150 years? New strains of bacteria and viruses evolve all the time, and sub-species of birds and reptiles have been documented to evolve within a few generations.
But in general for vertebrates evolution takes hundreds of thousands or millions of years. Not surprising we don't ' see ' it occurring on a daily basis.

"Obviously drywall ... "
Later:
"I make my way up the street to another group of thugs who have the reputation of selling the worst Dope in town. Why didn't I buy from these guys ... I purchase my pill . . . I cook up my shot ... . As I watch my blood squirt into the barrel of the syringe, I rest with the satisfaction that my goal has been accomplished."

Anyone who is interested can look up "Dreamseller" on google books and go to page 25.
Page 25 of the book, which is the last page of that chapter, says:
"I purchase my pill . . . I cook up my shot ... . As I watch my blood squirt into the barrel of the syringe, I rest with the satisfaction that my goal has been accomplished."
So he ends up getting high. At 5:44 he said he didn't.

Not as instant as Cielo for me (still a firm favourite on the iPod) but this album has really grown on me. Wonderful stuff and fantastic song. They need more publicity in the UK.

@scotamiran you lucky s.o.b! (jokingly, not serious man) they've stopped touring that would've been really cool to attend a show... you're right about the release and the expressiveness of music only so few musicians can do this properly Thank god these gents haven't sold out commercially yet like Kings Of Leon
By: huckitamuckit. on 02 Feb 10, 14:50:25
their new stuff is a different aproach, probobly better in their opinion, way more room to expand and do different things, heavier isnt always better.

sound like somebody was getting a little tired of being in the underground...

That might be true. Although, the first time I heard Leitmotif, it had instantly interested me and soon grew on me. This didn't really catch my ear... at all. They just don't seem to be as dynamic as pre-CWA, at least to me. Decent song, but just not for me. I think their penultimate theme would have to be The Canyon Behind Her.

got to talk to all four of them on multiple occasions in dallas tx 10-20-08, was a great show. being a musician, ive had a tendency to start being more analytical at shows recently, instead of just letting go and reveling in the moment. but not at the dredg show, pure emotion and release.
By: scotamiran. on 25 Jan 10, 05:17:39
yeah... i had the same sort of feeling at first too, that i wasnt reacting positively as quickly as i did with cielo and catch. but its def grown on me. i think that theres areas theyve grown on this album, but def areas they didnt. whether they chose not to change the things they didnt idk, maybe its just me and my reactions to it. but it did take a bit to warm up to some stuff. glad they did this song tho, to me its like the penultimate dredg theme/chord prog'sion.

Lmfao, I just listened to their Concious EP from 1996 and it's heavy as fuck. Sounds like a completely different band compared to this. Anyways, I wasn't too fond of this album. It sounded a bit too mainstream for my tastes. I prefere El Cielo and before above all, but this and Catch Without Arms are still great albums.
By: give52Roscoe. on 17 Jan 10, 19:58:38
THE SONG IS A MASTERPIECE!!!

@AragornIsStrider: you're right, maybe a break will help. I'd propose to get into another band for some time and then come back to it.
By: AragornIsStrider. on 16 Jan 10, 00:10:44
You misunderstand. I love The Pariah. But I'm just not "into" it yet, for personal reasons. (I think I burned out on dredg and need a longer break or something...)
By: flybikes29. on 15 Jan 10, 19:30:58
i totally agree, it's nothing compared to their others.
By: AragornIsStrider. on 15 Jan 10, 09:53:39
I was obsessed with dredg back in 2006. I played Catch Without Arms almost everyday for over three months, sometimes two or three times in a day. I loved it, as well as Leitmotif and El Cielo. But now...I've listened to The Pariah less than 10 times since I got it last summer. It's an AMAZING album, but I'm just not into them right now...it's weird...I don't feel that "connection" to it yet. I think I grew bored waiting...and waiting for it. That was a LONG fucking wait.

oooo I love dredg;)
